Great food and service! Patrick is a wonderful and funny server!
Started with the Parmesan Chorizo Stuffed Mushrooms that were excellent. Had the Sea Scallops Entree with sugar snap peas & potato cauliflower mash. The scallops were exquisite! They were tender, flavorful & perfectly seared. Ended with lemon cake. Hats off to Chef Mindy. We found a true gem in Saugatuck!
Service and atmosphere was fabulous!!
First rate food and service. A great addition to the Saugatuck/Douglas restaurant scene.
Great ambience service and food. Had the salmon with fried risotto. Fabulous
We loved every part of our experience at Coast 236. Our meals were amazing as was the atmosphere and the staff. This restaurant became an immediate favorite for us.
Decent environment but incredibly slow service. The fish tasted bad (like ammonia)Never again.
Simple yet extravagant meals that pair tastes to satisfy your tongue and tummy. If you like mojitos you're going to love theirs.
Today my family and I had dinner at this place, the decoration is nice, admosfer feels cold and food was far from been wow. It is just and another average restaurant. It does not worth the price.
Very hectic and disorganized staff led us to be the only diners on the patio for the night. While multiple people came out to check on us, we still waited for our dinner for about an hour. The food wasn't great and to make it worse the man who we assumed to be the manager took the trash out while we ate. Really wouldn't recommend this place.
Decent food, good service
Coast has a new well known chef from the area. The menu has been revamped and now Coast is one of the best restaurants in the region ! Much more elevated menu and a great wine list . We celebrated my birthday there last night and it was a memorable experience. We had the Oysters and Asparagus starters followed by the Salmon and Scallops dinner dishes . Everything was perfection! We were so impressed !!! Thank you Mindy and team
For a small quaint place it sure packs a punch. From the start our waitress was very welcoming and had good knowledge and information about the menu. The decor was fantastic, from the bar area to the fire place. We started off with the truffle fries which were to die for. I ordered the coast burger which was cooked to perfection. I have to say I loved my burger but my girlfriend order the duck breast and it was out of this world. We talked about it the whole ride home. To finish off our wonderful evening, we ordered the lemon cake for dessert..... I hate cake, I don’t like the frosting or the texture of it. This lemon cake was the best cake I and my girlfriend have ever had, it turned me into a cake lover. Over all if you haven’t been to this amazing restaurant then your missing out. Do yourself a favor and try it, you won’t regret it.
The staff was amazing, and the food was delicious. Looks like they are renovating and improving the space. Can't wait to go back and sit on the patio.
Great ambiance!! Serves was amazing!! Amazing menu an wine paring !! 1st time going will differently will go back.
Scallops & beef tenderloin... OMG!!!😍
Your servers don't do there job except for danzel
Beautiful contemporary decor, good food options. However, do not sit at a dining table near the bar, the bartender was holding court with the those at the bar and was LOUD and crass dampening the dining experience for those seated in the area near the bar.
The service was extremely slow. We were there 3 hours and only had crab cakes and a main dish. Had reservations and weren’t greeted by our server for 15 minutes once seated. Food was good but service was slow and it wasn’t busy.
We tried this place in 2019 and did not have a good experience. Gave it another try and we were not disappointed! Chef Mike is the real deal. Food was perfect flavor and balance. Wine list was well thought out. Had the opportunity to meet Chef Mike and he is so vibrant and passionate about local ingredients and great food. We will be regulars!
Not enough wait staff for food and drink service. The food was good, though.
Wonderful atmosphere and menu selections. Our main dishes were scallops and lamb. We enjoyed every bite and saved a little room for the Lemon cake. Staff was so attentive and friendly. A very good evening.
The food is amazing here. Everything was appropriately priced. I hate the feeling of being over-charged for food and drinks because I'm at a "fancy" place. That is not the case here. High quality ingredients, perfectly cooked, a great experience. Best drinks we had in all of Saugatuck. And once again, fairly priced. You can even get a beer for $3. #1 restaurant in Saugatuck.
Awesome. Ask Richard to show you the cork trick!! And to tell you his jokes!
The food high quality. The service was good. Easy to find parking with a short walk. My only issue was the lack of seasoning on most items. I would go back though.
Excellent food. Just wish there were more vegan dishes. Wonderful decor and the staff make you feel like you are guest in their home. Great night out.
Culinary Chef, Friendly Crew, Wonderful Courtyard
Casual detail; nautical feel; attentive service; exquisite cuisine wonderfully prepared & presented.
Great ambiance and location with excellent service and a lovely menu. Highly recommended gem in Saugatuck. Raises the bar in terms of available options in the town.
We had a lovely dining experience at their back yard beautiful garden. The food was fresh and delicious, especially maitake mushrooms tempura. The wine list is excellent.
Ate here on 7/10/19. Had reservations and were seated in the bar area by the hostess and ordered drinks. Took about ten minutes to get drinks. After ordering, my wife got her soup after 20 minutes (my salad was brought 3 minutes later). Meal came 45 minutes after ordering. We had three different servers bring our food and drinks and at no point were we asked about the quality of our meal or if we needed anything. Fortunately, the food was delicious but the service needs some major tweaks.
Scallops were delicious. Service was great.
Beautiful intimate dining room and patio with great selection of food & spirits. Mindy the chef obviously takes great personal pride in every plate. The keylime cheesecake ended the meal on a high note!
The experience at COAST 236 is absolutely pleasurable from start to finish! Service is impeccable; Menu prepared by Chef Mindy Trafman & Sous Chef Allie is exquisite;Top Notch ambiance; Hats off to the owners! When planning your Saugatuck agenda, COAST 236 is a MUST EXPERIENCE!Highly HIGHLY recommend!
We are so glad we chose Coast 236 for our nicer meal on our "babymoon." We tend to order high and low on the menu and then share -- he got the $14 burger and I chose the $30 scallops. We both loved his meal as much or more than mine, which is a good sign of a place that cares about the integrity of all its food, not just the items at higher price-points. We also loved the atmosphere here -- clean, chic lines with tasteful lighting. On a general note, I've consistently observed that the five-star google winners serve inferior food when compared to the fine dining restaurants that get four stars on this platform. Many people seem disinclined to pay $3-5 more per meal for much better cuisine and atmosphere, or if they do pay it, they tend to absolutely pick the restaurant apart. We would rather eat out a bit less frequently or pack our lunches on vacation than skip places like Coast 236. If you share our mindset, try this restaurant.
Just had a wonderful meal at Coast 236! After drinks and those terrific spicy popped garbanzo beans, we had the shrimp and calamari appetizer. Then I had the kale caesar and my husband had stuffed squash. Perfect!
Had a great time at the Mother's Day brunch. Food was excellent, staff was attentive, and service was personal. Can't ask for much more - especially in our favorite lake town!
Great ambiance, good food and very great service!
I had the gazpacho, it was ok. Nothing special. I ordered the walleye, they were out. My husband ordered the filet, they were out. I ended up with the scallops, my husband the salmon. Both were delicious. Great service!Received a response from my review with a name & number to call. Please send again as they cannot be found!
Disappointing. Wedding party promised seating distanced from noisy bar. Instead, seated next to bar.One server assigned to party of twelve.Unrealistic. After hour and half, managed to serve drinks and appetizer.Meals, once served, were delicious. Huge management issue in this place. Mindy should have comped this one, for sure.Instead, she waived the 20% gratuity which would have only penalized our server. Server did her best under impossible circumstances. Wasn’t her fault. Hats off to management who throws her employee under the bus! This one falls to management, or lack thereof. Broken agreements re: reserved space and exceedingly slow service.
I don't offer many reviews as I'm not easily impressed, but Coast 236 is a MUST if you want a foodie experience. The quality, creativity and flavor profile of the food is on par with the best West Michigan has to offer. Incredible food and drink experience.
Slow service for a high price. Good food.
I loved the restaurant a year ago. I had "walleye pike" which was out of this world! We made a reservation for the holiday weekend and found they were serving one item..."fish boil". Unfortunately, it was dry and overseasoned with I believe "Old Bay" season mix. We also ordered the ceasar salad which was bok choy and very tough to eat. My son also had the same experience (2) days earlier.
First, we were lucky that we had Patrick as our waiter. He made our experience pleasant and fun. A true pleasure. Our food was very good with the exception of the lemon cake. A little dry. Beautiful decor.
The atmosphere and food we're perfect for a nice dinner out with friends! Loved the green bean appetizer and fried chickpeas. Wait staff was fantastic. Prices are reasonable for the quality.
We sat at the bar tonight for dinner and drinks and absolutely loved it. The bartender was great service and talking wise. We loved the drinks and food. The Island Negroni and salmon were wonderful and the carrot cake was amazing.
This my second time visiting Coast 236. A year ago my wife and I tried Coast 236 for the first time after learning Hercules had closed. Last year, Coast 236 was packed, the service and the menu were amazing. Fast forward a year now, and the service is just ok, the restaurant had ran out of a filet at 7:15 in the evening, and there was hardly anyone in the restaurant. The waitress, Michelle, was the only reason why we did not walk after finding out they were out of the filet so early. It’s sad to see that in just a years time, how a restaurant can go from a busy and upbeat vibe, to being on life support and clinging on to survive. This was truly a disappointing experience.
Over the weekend our inkeeper suggested Coast 236. We made our reservations at 6:00 and with an 8:00 show. Our waitress was very nice. We ordered shortly after arriving and at 7:20 still did not have our food. We started to get worried and expressed this to our waitress. She said our food was on the way. A few minutes later it did arrive but we felt very rushed and weren't able to enjoy it after the wait. My husband expressed this to the manager. She was very polite and professional and ended up comping our meal. We did not at all expect this however, because she was so polite we plan on returning to give Coast another try on our October trip. The food was wonderful-we ordered the scallops and trout and they were both exceptional!
The atmosphere is a little sterile, but the food is very good. The Saganaki (flaming cheese) is a neat show and tastes good. I had the walleye for my entree and the flavor was great on everything. They made zoodles taste good. My only complaint was that the fish was a little boney, but I think that's more the variety of fish than the preparation of it.
Great food! Great staff, and awesome menu!
